Concert was a Blockbuster

JCDS Band and Drumline presented a spectacular show.
On a warm Tuesday night in May, the JCDS Band and Drumline presented their concert, A Night at the Movies to an auditorium full of thoroughly impressed family and friends. The quality of music played by students as young as third grade was simply amazing.

Led by Band Specialist Chrystal Staples, the Drumline performed a series of lively cadences to warm up the audience.

Then the Band began their part of the show with New Forest March by Johnnie Vinson, a lively motif with a processional British style. The remainder of the concert consisted primarily of movie-related themes.

Ms. Staples highlighted various sections of the band with the alto brass playing Let's Go Out to the Lobby.

The flute section performed Do-Re-Me. The clarinets delighted the audience with The Pink Panther Theme. The low brass section appropriately played What's My Baseline?

Finally, the trumpets blasted out a lively Star Wars Theme.

The best parts of the show were saved for last. The band energetically played the theme from Mission: Impossible, followed by a lilting medley from The Jungle Book.

Finally, they wrapped up with themes from Westerns, including The Magnificent Seven, How the West Was Won, and Silverado.

It was an impressive show! Congratulations to everyone.
