Ways to Give

Every gift, of any size, makes a difference to JCDS and its students.

Since the founding of Jacksonville Country Day School over 50 years ago, the innovative programs, exemplary faculty, and state-of-the-art facilities have solidified the school as a regional leader of independent school education.

Like all independent schools, JCDS depends upon the generosity of our community to sustain and advance the mission of our school.

Through the unwavering commitment of parents, alumni, grandparents, faculty, trustees, and friends, we are able to provide the best possible educational environment for our students.

There are many ways to support JCDS in its mission to prepare students for a healthy and productive lifetime of intellectual exploration, character development, and social responsibility. For more information, please visit the links listed or contact our director of advancement, Rebecca Schwam, at rschwam@jcds.com or 904-641-6644 ext. 165.

  • Corporate Matching Gifts

Many companies will match donations that their employees make to eligible nonprofit organizations. We have partnered with Double the Donation to let you see if your contribution to JCDS will be doubled, or even tripled, by your company.

Also, some corporations will make a cash donation to organizations where their employees volunteer regularly. Many parents put in long hours working on various projects and committees for JCDS. Why not convert those hours into a financial contribution?

Please check to see if your employer participates in any of these programs. Double the Donation will search its database and provide you with instructions for submitting a request for matching funds.
  • Qualified Charitable Distribution

The Qualified Charitable Distribution("QCD") is a smart way to give back.

If you are over the age of 70 1/2, you can direct up to $105,000 (in 2024) from an IRA to non-profits like JCDS. Please note: these gifts count toward your Required Minimum Distributions, which means you avoid income tax on the funds distributed to charities.

Through this charitable giving option, you can make an unrestricted gift to the JCDS Annual Fund at Jacksonville Country Day School, or, you can consider establishing an endowment with a minimum gift of $25,000, so your donation will provide support in perpetuity.  Please contact our office to discuss the terms of gifts and pledges associated with endowment and major gift opportunities.

Please consult your tax advisor or financial planner for more information.

Thank you for considering a gift to Jacksonville Country Day School. Should you have questions, please contact Rebecca Schwam, Director of Advancement at rschwam@jcds.com or 904-641-6644.

    Stock Certificates in JCDS’s name

If the certificate has been reissued and is in JCDS’s name, the reissue date is the gift date. In this case, a stock power form is not necessary.
Please note that stock transfers normally are completed in 2-3 business days, depending on your broker. Mutual fund transfers can take 2-3 weeks, especially at year-end, due to the additional paperwork required.
  • Major Gifts

Major gift donors may direct their support toward a specific purpose that matches their personal interests with the needs and priorities of JCDS. Some Major Gift projects will have naming opportunities. For full prospects on projects contact Rebecca Schwam, Director of Advancement.

We currently have major gift opportunities available in the following areas: playground replacement project coordinating with KOMPAN playground, replacement of water fountains on campus to bottle fillers, and updates to the primary art room.  If you do not see a current opportunity that connects to your personal interests, please contact our Advancement office to discuss your vision!

  • Birthday Books

To honor your child's birthday, you may donate a book to the library by following these three steps:

    1. Select and purchase a book from the JCDS Library Wishlist. The wishlist can be found at Amazon.com
    2. JCDS provides this wishlist at Amazon.com to make book shopping simple. However, we appreciate a hardback copy of any book on the list from any source. Is there a title you love that does not appear on our list? Please email Jen Currie at jcurrie@jcds.com, and she will check to make sure we don’t already have a copy. Books may be personally delivered to the school or shipped directly to:
      • JCDS Library Birthday Books
        10063 Baymeadows Rd
        Jacksonville, FL 32256
    3. Please include a note with your book donation that indicates the birthday child's name, month and day of birth, and homeroom or advisory teacher.
    4.  Email jcurrie@jcds.com when a birthday book is purchased so that the library can be sure to share your child’s birthday book with their class when it arrives. Feel free to purchase books as far in advance as you like to ensure they are ready for presentation by your child’s birthday.

Once the book is received by our JCDS library:
    • The library specialist will print the birthday child's name on an honorary bookplate to be placed on the inside cover of the book and create a note in our electronic card catalog.
    • Students will be able to search the birthday child's name in the card catalog to find the entry for the donated book.
    • Birthday books will be presented in front of the child's class, and the honoree will have the option of being first to borrow the donated book.
    • The birthday child will receive a special birthday bookmark.

Thank you for your birthday book donation!

Please feel free to email Jen Currie at jcurrie@jcds.com with any questions.
