We're Back!
First day of school was smooth sailing at JCDS!
Over 400 excited Sharks showed up on Wednesday, August 24 for an exciting mid-week first day of school.
The week actually began on Monday as parents and students came on campus for their Back-to-School conference.
They got to meet their new teachers and find out where their homerooms were located. Some of the classrooms shifted around over the summer, and 3rd graders found their rooms located where the 4th graders were previously situated. The good news is they now have lockers!
On Tuesday the students new to JCDS in 1st through 6th were invited to an adventurous scavenger hunt, which gave them a chance to tour the campus, say hello to their teachers again, and meet many of the specialists. They also got to have their photo taken with Sharky!
Wednesday was the big day when school started for real. The returning students were happy to be back with their friends and favorite teachers, and look forward to making some new friends!
A few of the younger students may have been a little reluctant to get out of the car, but they settled into the routine of school quickly and had a successful day with their new teachers and friends.
Teachers got right to work, getting the students back into the process of learning. There are many skills they will master this year, so there is no time to waste.
